Rovinj by Boat

Debbie and I are not high-intensity travelers. Regular life is busy enough, so why work hard on vacation? Today was one of those not working very hard days. We took a leisurely walk up to town again this morning. We bought tickets for a boat tour of the area that was leaving in about an hour. We then spent most of the time sitting on a wall by the water, watching the boats go by and watching the sea birds.

The boat tour took us around the old town by water.

Then we went out to see some of the other islands in the archipelago. The weather is beautiful today, so lots of people are out saling.

We went by a lighthouse on one of the islands and a church on another.

And I took a picture of Debbie.

Today (Sunday) is the feast day of St. Euphemia, so there's been all sorts of celebrations happening since we got here. Yesterday, we saw a marching band with baton squad performing. Today, there were a bunch of dance performances in the town square, including one that was done to a song I'm sure I recognized as the Croatian version of an English-language song that was popular in the dance clubs the summer I worked in Tokyo (in 1995). So, not every performance was exactly traditional Croatian folk dance.

For the rest of the day, the plan is to take a nap for a while, then go out and have some gelato and possibly find Internet access somewhere. You may proceed with the hate. :-) (Update - success!!)

You know what this blog is missing? More photos of both of you taken by holding your camera at arm's length. I want to see flared nostrils, people!
