Globalization

We've had some amusing small world moments over the last couple days. It's a little cliche when people go on vacation and start babbling on about globalization and "the world is flat" and the like, so I'll spare you analysis and go right to the stories and pictures.

As we were wandering around Ljubljana last night (the other night) we passed a bar that was playing bhangra music. A pretty popular song, I think, since Debbie and I were familiar with it, but still. We also heard a band playing outdoors do first a Slovenian version of a French song, then Elvis, then Madonna, and finally a song that (as Debbie put it) "sounds like something by your people". (I'm pretty sure she meant it sounded Greek.) Then there's the place we went for lunch.

Yes, we had lunch at Joe Pena's, which Lonely Planet describes as "Ljubljana's best, mood-lit Mexican restaurant." And, yes, there is more than one. How was it? Not bad, actually. Better than the Mexican place I went to in London, at least.

Proving that there's nowhere in the world without a Chinese restaurant, here's Bled's only one. We haven't been brave enough to try the food, although it does appear to have Chinese people working there.
